OPTICAL ILLUSIONS by Toby Tripp 2003 by Toby Tripp 2002

Look at this amazing picture:

Optical Illusion

Believe it or not, the horizontal lines are parallel to each other. It’s not how it seems so it’s called

AN OPTICAL ILLUSION !

It’s Funny How Your Mind Plays Tricks On You !

*

Number 1

Q: Who has longer arms? Annie or Bertha?

Optical Illusion

A: Both have exactly the same length arms. Bertha’s arms just look longer due to an optical illusion.

*

Number Two

Q: Which of these is Anti-Personnel Mine

and which is Anti-Human-Resources mine?

Optical Illusion

A: WRONG! They are both upside down ashtrays -

Filled with rusty nails, explosives and detonators

*

Number Three

Q: Which is heavier?

- A ton of feathers, two tons of bricks or my brother?

Optical Illusion

A: A ton of feathers is the heaviest –

(Because of a complicated optical illusion, the feathers just seem lighter because they’re all soft & go in pillows.)

*

Number Four

Q: Do you see an old woman’s face,

or a beautiful young woman in the picture below?

Optical Illusion

A: It can of course be either!

*

Number Five

Q: Is it a bird or is it a plane?

Optical Illusion

A: Due to an optical illusion caused by it being so far away, you’d be forgiven for thinking it was either.

(But it is, in fact Superman, wearing purple Y-Fronts pulled up to his armpits, doing backstroke.)

*

Number Six

Q: Which shape is more circular – A or B?

Optical Illusion

A: Neither is more circular than the other -

(B just looks more circular because it contains a tiny stick man trying to get out.)

*

Number Seven

While looking at the spiral below,

Spin Your Head Round Really Fast

Optical Illusion

Now stop your head spinning

and look once more at the spiral.

(It seems to spin slowly in the opposite direction doesn’t it?)

*

Number Eight

Q: Which is better when it comes to

buying property?

Optical Illusion

A: The answer of course, is C

(Due to optical illusions caused by money and the refractive properties of the flood-water surrounding low-lying houses.)

*

Number Nine

Q: Which shape is redder –

The Red Circle or The Green Square?

Optical Illusion

A: In fact, each shape is as red as the other -

(The Red Circle just looks redder due to being circular – another optical illusion!)

*

Number Ten

This is less an optical illusion,

more a Medical Examination

Look at the picture below.

Optical Illusion

If you see fuzzy black spots

in the intersections of the white grid

you might get ill and will one day, alas, perhaps die

*

Number Eleven

Q: Which is more blue? Blue or Orange?

Optical Illusion

A: Orange is more blue

*

Number Twelve

Ask a carpenter friend of yours to make this shape:

Optical Illusion

Aha – it is, of course, an optical illusion.

No one could make that shape - because it is an Impossible Shape for most carpenters to make. So unless your friend is a very very good carpenter, it’s unlikely that they’ll be able to construct it.

(But I know someone who could do it for you for a couple of thousand pounds if you’re still interested in having one made.)
